Henry Fuller Davis, originally a native of Vermont, is one of the colorful characters from Peace River's past. Arriving late for the Caribou Goldrush, Davis staked a 12 foot plot between two other gold claims near Barkerville, British Columbia. It was the only unclaimed plot left. From it, he mined over $15,000 worth of placer gold, earning himself the nickname "12 Foot Davis".
