The pages of DONNAVVENTURA’s history are full of spectacular and attractive
images of marvellous places.
Fifteen years of history through female eyes, dedicated to those who dream
of experiences in extreme conditions, in out-of-the-ordinary places, to those
who never stop seeking, investigating and admiring, with an open heart and
sharp eyes, always ready to capture the beauty and detail of every single
sight!
What is DONNAVVENTURA?
It’s an opportunity open to all women who yearn to become travel reporters,
even just for a moment. A chance to transmit a unique and unusual experience
to others and to see the emotions and impressions felt by each participant
published on the pages of the main national papers and magazines. In completely
unedited form.
Extreme tourism and balancing acts between dreams, exertion, competition and
enthusiasm, all shared with other women who have the same love for excitement,
nature and adventure.
From the very first expedition in the Sahara desert, the history of the event
is packed with stirring memories, experiences that have marked the lives of
many enterprising women who have resolutely tackled the obstacles and difficulties
of each event with courage and determination, in Libya, Amazonia, Australia,
Patagonia, Morocco, Lapland, the long expedition in South America. From deserts
of sand to those of ice, the enthusiasm never wanes.
The great success of the first expeditions, which begun quietly in the late
‘80s/early ‘90s, and the desire to tell these stories, above all
to other women, led to the creation of a television series good enough to
be featured by the main Italian (RAI Uno, Italia Uno, Retequattro) and international
(Eurosport) networks, and equipped with a format that has been perfected over
the years, attracting a diverse and loyal public and constantly growing ratings.
The images that we have seen on our colour screens of distant lands, foreign
peoples, places, cultures, animals and landscapes are invariably accompanied
by excitement.
Following the suggestions and eagerness of the participants to tell their
stories in full, a travel format has been devised that is more documentary
and informational in style than in previous years, where the reporters are
not just filmed whilst going about their daily tasks and invited to express
their impressions and sensations in front of the camera, but can also take
an active part in conducting the programme, helping to inform viewers of all
aspects and interesting facts about the countries involved.
The desire to “visually” document the feats undertaken is therefore
now accompanied by the innate “romantic” pleasure of narrating
the fascinating expeditions in writing. The ”correspondent” formula,
involving the pairing of each girl with a national newspaper or magazine,
has consequently proved to be enormously popular.
At this stage, all that remains is the difficult task of identifying, through a rigorous selection process and various aptitude tests, those women who are up to the adventure that awaits. Desire is not sufficient; you have to ask yourself, and demonstrate, whether you will really be capable of tackling the difficult tests involved in each expedition without losing heart. Are you ready for all sorts of unforeseen events, do you know how to knuckle down and go without sleep if necessary, in the knowledge that there will be generous compensation for the difficulties encountered: from the spectacular landscapes, to the pleasure of reaching places inaccessible to others, from the enthusiasm for the discovery of distant and sometimes truly unexpected worlds and cultures, but above all in the excitement that such a fantastic experience always reserves for its participants.
Photo reporters, journalists, explorers and the main stars, DONNAVVENTURA is all of this and all that each woman, every single correspondent, contributes with her own world and special drive to making each expedition unique and different from the last.

News and Events
On October 07 a reality TV tour group from Italy named Donnavventura came
to the area and we were asked to meet with them. In a joint effort with Mighty
Peace Tourist Association, Cache Around Town.com arranged a geocaching event
for them to participate in. We set it up as a race at the the Dunvegan Park.
They really were impressed with the setting and after doing some footage for
TV with the Bridge as a background they got into the geocaching. Their sponsor
Nokia had given them brand new hand held GPS units. These were high lighted
in some footage for their sponsor and then the race was on with a few pointers
from Andrew Stuckey(MPTA) & Don Reid. Once they got the method of putting
the waypoints into their GPS units (translation from English to Italian need
to be worked through) They were off to find the temporary waypoint tags that
were set out specifically for this event. After what seemed to short of time
we had to stop as the group was to travel to Peace River to participate in
a Hockey Practice with the Navigators. After an on ice skate with the team
and group photo they proceeded to a late nite supper at Peace Valley Inns
where they received a CACHE from cachearoundtown.com . This was in addition
to the headgear (from Miller Cresting Grimshaw) that was presented to the
group at the race site in Dunvegan.
This tour that you can see on the map was to take 100 days. The Group had
2 camera people and 6 female journalists from Italy. The 6 participants were
were selected fron 15,000 applicants. The Reality TV show of Donnavventura
has been going for 15 years.
So what did this look like in action... check out the participants
