East of Manning on Secondary Highway No. 631 is the Ukrainian Catholic Church of Ascension. The first Ukrainian Catholic Church was erected in 1898 in Star, Alberta. This more recent church, near the former hamlet of North Star, shows some of the elements of their distinctive architecture.
